Assistant Director of Beverly Levy Early Learning Center
The Beverly Levy Early Learning Center (BLELC) at the JCC of Greater New Haven, provides high quality programs for children ages three months through school age, in a supportive, nurturing environment that promotes their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The JCC seeks to be a social, cultural, recreational, and educational hub for the community.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Beverly Levy Early Learning Center is responsible for working as part of an administration team, assisting the Center Director in overseeing the day-to-day operations and programming of the Early Learning Center. The Assistant Director Serves as the Second in command and will act as the Center Director in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
● Serves as the educational leader for our Lime, Green, Teal, Blue, Indigo, and Violet classrooms setting the tone for play based, developmentally appropriate programing
● Ensuring weekly newsletters are being sent home and appropriate for assigned classrooms.
● Ensuring appropriate weekly curriculums are being posted and sent home on time for assigned classrooms.
● Daily check of ProCare Communications and Daily sheets for children in assigned classrooms.
● Records weekly late fees and gives a record to the Center Director for implementation.
● Days off announcements and reminders.
● Maintains curriculum needs lists for Center Director, medical supplies through Mckesson, and art supplies lists for Center Director.
● Primary contact for Educational consultants as it related to their assigned classrooms.
● Maintains all swimming forms, swimming schedules, and pool certifications and regulations.
● Center Tours / Enrollment Packet
● Works with CD with Performance reviews for assigned classroom teachers. Works on setting annual goals for teachers.
● Set up room parents for assigned classrooms.
● Attends weekly department meetings.
● Staff coverage as needed in assigned classrooms.
● First contact for all staff concerns in assigned classrooms.
● Other duties as necessary or requested.
Assistant Director closes the school on a daily basis. They are responsible for acting as the Manager on Duty for the program in the absence of the Center Director, or after the Center Director leaves.
Qualifications
- A deep passion for early childhood education and a genuine love for working with children
- At least three years of experience as a lead teacher in a childcare or educational setting
- Experience as an Assistant Director preferred
- A complete understanding of the rules and regulations required of a childcare center in the state of Connecticut by the OEC
- Strong communication and organizational skills to lead and inspire a collaborative team environment
