Pour your cup of coffee and connect with local artists from the comfort of your own home. Send your questions in advance or ask live during the 30-minute sessions. Register in advance and we'll see you soon!

This week's artist feature is Elizabeth Skalka, a student at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts on track to earn her Master’s degree in Art History.

Elizabeth Skalka holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) where she graduated Cum Laude, majoring in Art History, Theory and Criticism with a concentration in Curatorial Studies. Before moving to New York to pursue her Master’s, Elizabeth lived in Chicago, where she worked at a number of art museums and galleries and taught art classes for school-aged children.

Join Elizabeth for a program that introduces the study of art history and teaches what to look for when assessing fine art. She will share what she believes to be some of the most important artworks, as well as common methodologies for interpretation.

Elizabeth’s research focus is Global Contemporary Art, specifically focusing on global art exhibitions like biennials. The subject of her undergraduate thesis was the 2015 Venice Biennale, which looked at the politics of the ever-expanding canon of art.
