The Anti-Defamation League was founded in 1913 "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all." For 101 years, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has led the fight in combating hatred, promoting diversity, and fostering communities of respect. Today, ADL is the nation's premier human relations and civil rights organization, bringing unparalleled experience and resources to protect, defend, and educate our communities locally, nationally and globally to build a better world.

The ADL Greater New Haven Torch of Liberty event brings a diverse group of people together every year to celebrate the importance of diversity and standing together as a community against bias and hate. It honors outstanding members of the Greater New Haven community whose commitment and dedication to making the world a better place occurs every day and is aligned with ADL’s mission of “fighting hate, building bridges of understanding and safeguarding the liberties of all.”
