The JCC of Greater New Haven is excited to present the Beckerman Jewish Film Series April 7-May 18, 2016: A diverse collection of Jewish and Israeli films to be shown in the Greater New Haven area, including Cheshire, Hamden, Woodbridge, Madison, and New Haven. The films selected explore a variety of comedic, dramatic, historical, and modern themes, both classics and new releases. Partnering with the JCC is a host of community organizations across the region: The Jewish Federation’s Shoreline and Women’s Philanthropy departments; Jewish Business League; Yale University (Judaic Studies, Whitney Humanities Center & Slifka Center); Anti-Defamation League, Tower One Tower East; Temple Beth David of Cheshire, Shoreline Hadassah, Best Video Film and Cultural Center (Hamden); and Madison Art Cinemas. The JCC also received $5,000 in grant support from CT Humanities.

The Israeli Film Academy’s 2014 “Best Film” winner, Gett: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, kicks off the series on Thursday, April 7 | 6:30 PM at Yale’s Luce Hall.

This drama portrays the struggles associated with being granted a divorce in the orthodox Jewish community.
Senior Lector of Hebrew language and culture, Dr. Dina Roginsky, will lead a post-screening talk-back.
