Food4Kids New Haven will be having a celebration on Thursday, November 3, 2016. The event, sponsored by Hunger Relief and Development, Inc. (HRAD), will honor Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and benefit the Food4Kids Program in New Haven Public Schools.
In Connecticut, nearly one child in five is hungry or food insecure and does not get enough food outside of the free meal programs provided by the public schools. Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven and Women’s Philanthropy of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven have joined other programs throughout the country to combat this issue in our own backyards. FOOD4KIDS New Haven is designed to feed school children who are food insecure and have little or no food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior, improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program. Food is purchased, packed and delivered weekly by volunteers. For as little as $200, contributors can feed one child for the entire school year.
The Food4Kids New Haven celebration will be held at The Ballroom at Lo Ricco Towers, located at 216 Crown Street in New Haven, from 6-9pm. Tickets can be purchased for $50 with the option to make an additional donations. Attendees can register here https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E4922&id=5
