This Wednesday, we have an exceptional opportunity to hear a Holocaust survivor tell his story of tragedy and triumph. William Bernheim experienced the most harrowing and devastating abuse at the hands of the Nazis and with courage, wisdom, resolve, and humor, was able to turn his life around. A gifted artist, Mr, Bernheim channeled his pain using his creative talents into constructive ends. His story is compelling and his message is necessary to hear. We will have fewer and fewer opportunities to listen to first-hand accounts of the Holocaust.

I met Willie over twenty years ago at Park East Synagogue where I served as the assistant rabbi. He and his wife Bernice are warm and wonderful people. I have a special place in my heart for Willie, who worked professionally as a jeweler, because he designed the engagement ring I gave Tova when we got married.

I look forward to seeing you at this meaningful event.
