A Taste of Honey will feature a one-of-a-kind performance of "From Russia With Soul." Presented by faculty members from New Haven's Neighborhood Music School, this performance offers a collection of two beautiful genres - the Russian song, shaped largely by Jewish and Gypsy influences, and the African-American spiritual. This unexpected kinship is born of the parallel historical experiences of Russian serfdom and African-American slavery, followed by years of economic deprivation, political repression, and war. These soulful songs capture the cry of cultures that have endured great suffering, yet are able to voice their hope for deliverance.

The cost to attend this performance is $5 for JCC members or $10 for Community members.
