Join us on April 24 for a special Sephardi Shabbat featuring a preview screening and conversation with filmmaker Jeffrey Levick, Rabbi Michael Farbman, Lindsey Sussman, and Melissa Perkal.
The evening will include a 10-minute preview of Threaded, a documentary-in-progress tracing the remarkable journey of a Torah scroll from Temple Emanuel to a growing Jewish community in Spain. Following the preview, we'll explore the questions the story has raised — about Temple Emanuel's place in a larger Jewish story, the evolving meaning of Reform Judaism today, and how Jewish memory and resilience take on renewed urgency in the face of rising antisemitism. Ample time for Q&A will be included.
Sephardi hors d'oeuvres at 7:00 pm, followed by a Shabbat service at 7:30, during which we will hold our conversation and screening. Additional Sephardi treats will be served at the oneg following the service.
