Scholar in Residence Program (Part 2): Safeguarding Lives, Upholding Values: Israel's Complex Counter-Terrorism Dilemma

During the struggle against terrorism, Israel faces the delicate challenge of balancing the need to preserve the lives of its citizens with the imperative to act in accordance with its democratic principles. This equilibrium is exceedingly difficult, involving various ethical dilemmas. In the lecture, we will explore the moral difficulties that Israel grapples with and techniques utilized in counter-terrorism efforts, and examine whether such a balance is even possible.
