This country is facing a crisis of white nationalism and growing hate- from attacks like Charlottesville, Pittsburgh, Poway, and El Paso, to the racist murders of George Floyd and countless others. Join us for a discussion on how to understand and confront white nationalism -- and the racism and antisemitism that are central to it.

BIOS

Amy Spitalnick is the Executive Director of Integrity First for America, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization dedicated to holding those accountable who threaten longstanding principles of our democracy—including our country's commitment to civil rights and equal justice. IFA is backing Sines v. Kessler, the landmark federal lawsuit filed by a coalition of Charlottesville community members against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups responsible for the August 2017 violence. Trial is scheduled for October 2020. Amy joins IFA with well over a decade of experience in government, politics, and advocacy. She previously served as Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor to the New York Attorney General; Communications Advisor and Spokesperson for the New York City Mayor; and Communications Director in the New York State Senate. She has also worked on a number of federal, state, and local campaigns and advocacy organizations. 

Eric K. Ward, Executive Director, Western States Center. A Senior Fellow with Southern Poverty Law Center and Senior Advisor with Race Forward, Eric is a nationally-recognized expert on the relationship between authoritarian movements, hate violence, and preserving inclusive democracy. In his 30+ year civil rights career, Eric founded the Community Alliance of Lane County; established 120 task forces in six states through Northwest Coalition Against Malicious Harassment; supported immigrant rights as National Field Director for the Center for New Community; served as Program Officer for Atlantic Philanthropies and the Ford Foundation; and served on many boards. Eric’s writings and speeches, credited with key narrative shifts, are widely quoted.
