WhatsApp is a free, secure private messaging service that allows users to send text and voice messages, make voice and video calls, and share images with one another.
Gett. (formerly GetTaxi)
Gett is a ride-sharing app similar to Uber or Lyft. Originally built for business travel, Gett is an Israeli-made ride-sharing service with the highest levels of security in the industry, making it the only app of its kind allowed to operate in Israel. On the days and nights where you have free time and want to explore Jerusalem/Tel Aviv, Gett will be your preferred method of getting around.
As mentioned on the orientation session, for most use cases you will not need a power converter to use electricity in Israel, only a Type C European outlet adapter. To that end, we have curated the following options from Amazon to facilitate the purchasing process:
[2-Pack] European Travel Plug Adapter with 1 USB C, 2 American Outlets and 3 USB Ports
Important Note: Dual Voltage vs Single Voltage Appliances
If your appliance(s) is/are rated with a range of voltages (e.g. "INPUT: 110-240V"), you only need an adapter, not a converter. This applies to most newer electronics, including smartphones, laptops, cameras, etc. However, if your appliance is rated for a single voltage only, you will almost certainly need a converter. American electrical outlets output at 120V whereas Israeli outlets output at 230V. Using a single voltage 120V appliance with an adapter only could do serious damage to your appliances. Please check the ratings on your appliances' wall plugs carefully if you have any doubts.
