jHaven Emerging Leadership Program

jHaven's Emerging Leadership Program is a six-month leadership development track for young professionals in the Greater New Haven community between the ages of 24 and 45, set to begin this winter and running through late spring 2022.

Ideal candidates are active, engaged members of the New Haven Jewish community who show potential for more serious engagement and who are at a stage in their careers where they could benefit from leadership development to broaden their Jewish communal understanding and engagement.

The program is designed to help ensure the future vitality of the Jewish community by providing an educational platform in which the participants will learn, share, and grow their ability to act as leaders. The program will consist of eight weeknight sessions, followed by a two-night, Shabbaton-style retreat, accompanied by a graduation ceremony.

Sessions will address such topics as: “how to listen like a leader;” “how to create meaningful change as part of a team;” and “how to be an effective board member.” Lecture-based learning will be done over an included kosher meal and will be bookended by hands-on, experiential practice and one-on-one/small group discussions.

What Will You Gain?

Join the Emerging Leadership Program to:

  • Educate and expose yourself to the issues facing our Jewish community (food insecurity, Jewish education, community engagement in Jewish New Haven, Israel and in 70 countries around the world) and the role the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven plays in meeting those needs.

  • Gain a familiarity for and understanding of the Federated giving model and how the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven's allocations process turns your annual campaign donation into vital funding for Jewish organizations in Greater New Haven and beyond.

  • Acquire skills to manage and grow your career, philanthropic endeavors, and leadership overall.

  • Network and build connections with other emerging leaders in the Greater New Haven Jewish community.

  • Meet seasoned volunteers and philanthropists who will share their leadership journey and help you discover yours.
