As a public act of solidarity with the 199 hostages abducted by Hamas’ during its barbaric raid into Israel on Oct. 7, the Jewish Federations of North America and 50 partner organizations are launching a global "Blue Ribbons for Israel" campaign, asking people across the world to wear their support for these innocent victims on their shirts and display them on their social media platforms.
“The fear and pain of those held hostage by this brutal terrorist group is unimaginable, and their families are in anguish,” said Andy Hochberg, Chair of the Domestic Policy & Government Affairs Committee for Jewish Federations of North America. “That is why it is so important to ensure these people are not forgotten, to reaffirm our community's solidarity, and to express our support for whatever it takes to bring them home.”
An incredible array of organizations have partnered to spread the word, including: Jewish National Fund, AIPAC, Hillel International, Combat Antisemitism Movement, Foundation for Jewish Camp, NJHSA, Orthodox Union, United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, National Black Empowerment Council, Prizmah, Israel Policy Forum, JCC Association of North America, and National Council of Jewish Women.
Anyone who cares about the health and safety of these hostages is invited to wear a ribbon publicly, regardless of their religion, race, nationality, ethnicity, age, generation, or political affiliation. Wearing the ribbon demonstrates to the people of Israel that they are not alone, and shows solidarity with the hostages, their families, and all who care about their safety during this dark time.
This Wednesday, Federation volunteers, including participants in the Jewish Changemakers program and students, will fan out on on Capitol Hill to deliver blue ribbons and campaign postcards to every House and Senate offices.
