Since October 8th, Hezbollah has bombarded Israel's north with some 9,000 rockets, missiles and drones, displacing close to 70,000 Israelis and killing innocents. Over the last week, as Hezbollah increased the intensity of its barrage against northern communities Jewish Federations have stepped up their allocations to support their growing needs. 

 

"In light of the escalation of the war in the north of Israel, Jewish Federations have allocated $43M in emergency funds to meet critical needs of those communities under attack," Jewish Federations of North America President and CEO Eric Fingerhut announced. 

 

These funds have been used to support victims of terror, providing medical and mental health support, and food and housing to displaced people, while working to rebuild shattered communities, and help local businesses affected by the war, among other priority areas.

 

"This new series of allocations is in addition to over $32M that have been allocated to support the communities in the north during the months that they have been under attack and evacuated from their homes. Federations will continue to monitor the situation carefully and are committed to meeting the needs of all our brothers and sisters in Israel as they become known," he added.

 

These allocations included emergency medical and trauma needs, financial recovery grants, social support, and support for local councils, as well as several grants to support populations with specialized needs, such as children and the elderly.

 

The allocation come from the $854 million Israel Emergency Fund Federations have raised since October 7th to address the needs of Israelis affected by the attacks and their aftermath.
