Volunteer Experiences for Families

 

Join PJ Library families in helping give back to the community through four hands-on volunteer projects! 

 

PJ Library is a program of Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven. The PJ Gives Back series has been made possible through a generous grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven, in partnership with Beverly Levy Early Learning Center, Ezra Academy and Jewish Family Service.

 

Everyone is welcome...best for families with children ages 4-12.
 

PJ SHARES: Birthday Party for the World

Celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a birthday party for the world while we give back to the community! Pack birthday party kits, create holiday cards, enjoy live music and inflatables.
 
Kid-friendly dinner provided (kosher dairy). Click here to help us provide items for the birthday party kits benefitting children served by Jewish Family Service of Greater New Haven. You can sign up even if you can't attend! Deliver items to the JCC to Kayla's attention by Sunday, September 10.

PJ CARES: Love in a Box


All ages are welcome. Join us as we gather and pack donations for Israeli soldiers. Children will help create and decorate cards and letters. Kosher snacks and materials for making cards will be provided. Donations can be brought to either the JCC of Greater New Haven or Ezra Academy leading up the event.

PJ READS: Promoting Literacy

 

Join PJ Library at the Ezra Academy Green Book Fair as we reduce, reuse, recycle and give back. Featuring Ilan Stavans, co-author of The Mexican Dreidel. Keep the Chanukah fun going! Books will be available for purchase by local booksellers, Possible Futures. Bring used books for a book swap or to upcycle into art or jewelry and donate a new copy of your favorite book for children served by Jewish Family Services. Bring used markers for recycling. Enjoy a kosher dairy lunch catered from The Towers.  This event will be most enjoyed by families with children ages 3-12.

Join PJ Library in participating in the Jewish Family Services "Souper" Bowl & help fill the food pantry!
 
Thanks to generous grant funding we have limited gift cards available to double your donation of food! During February 1-15, sign up to receive a gift card from $10-100 with an agreement to match the amount in food donations to be delivered to the JCC.
 
This opportunity is in partnership with the Beverly Levy Early Learning Center and Ezra Academy. This series has been made possible by an impact grant from the Jewish Federation of Greater New Haven.

Join PJ Our Way in participating in the Jewish Family Services "Souper" Bowl & help fill the food pantry!
 
Tweens (with a guardian) ages 8-12 are invited to help deliver, weigh and stock the shelves on Monday, February 19.
 

Please note that space is limited and pre-registration is required. Child must be accompanied by an adult.
