On January 26, 2016, we welcomed a family of three young siblings – all in their twenties - from the Democratic Republic of Congo. They were soon joined by the wife and 2-year-old son of the eldest. The family had lived in a refugee camp in Rwanda for a decade before being resettled in the U.S. Among their greatest challenges in the first year were learning English, finding jobs when they had no prior work experience, and learning the ways of the work world in American Culture. The family eventually moved to Michigan to join relatives who live there.
