MLK Program Helps Families Celebrate Diversity

How can we teach children to be kind and gently guide them to seek peace of mind? How can we help them understand the difference in others and begin to accept we are all sisters & brothers?

Soulful Sydney Authors Terry Murphy and Marian Azeez ask these questions and help us explore them with our families on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at the JCC of Greater New Haven with a community-wide program that celebrates diversity.

The day will offer families with all age children the chance to hear from Terry and her 11-year old co-author, Mariam, as well as celebrate this message of inclusion with a musical performance. In addition, families are invited to create no-sew fleece compassion blankets to be given to those in need.

FREE. RSVP: jccnh.org/soulful-sydney.

The beginning of 2019 is also the kick-off of our Year of Family Volunteerism theme for Greater New Haven PJ Library and the JCC. We encourage you to bring cans for local food pantries. You can also create a project or join efforts toward our annual Mitzvah Day April 7.
