Last year, Sarah Goldstein and her family hosted Noa, an Israeli emissary to the Greater New Haven community. The experience had an enormous effect on Sarah; when it came time to choose a bat mitzvah project earlier this year, it didn’t take long to figure out what she wanted to do.
“Sarah and Noa got so close,” said Tanya Goldstein, Sarah’s mother. “It was an amazing experience for our whole family, especially her.” Sarah Goldstein is advertising her project through Temple Beth Shalom, the JCC of Greater New Haven, and through friends and family. She is selling handmade versions of popular Israeli games, and all proceeds are benefiting the program. The Goldsteins say the community response has been positive, and they’re grateful for everyone who’s helped so far.
