Sderot Summer Camp Dispatch: July 27 --- Quiet on the Set: making a film ab

The Jewish Agency, with funding from the Israel Emergency Fund of the United Jewish Communities, is taking the entire population of 8,000 children ages 6 to 17 who live in the Sderot area out of the range of attack and letting kids do what they like best. From amusement parks to nature reserves, from water parks to concerts, and from touring the country to enjoying recreation with friends, kids from Sderot are having a great summer. (More about the program's funding.)

But why not hear it from them? Come back to this blog frequently to check out blog entries from different camps thoughout the summer.

A television film crew arrived in order to prepare a promotional film about the Jewish Agency Summer Camps in Sderot and Gaza Perimeter communities.

The crew came with representatives of the Canadian Jewish Appeal to prepare a report for representatives abroad.

The crew photographed the children of the camp in Sderot on a typical day of activity and interviewed a counselor, Ortal Yoseph, and a camper, Menuha Fendel.

The children talked about the experiences that they had enjoyed during the camp and conveyed their thanks. The children wanted to reinforce the valiant partnership between diaspora Jewry and the children of Sderot, and expressed their hope that tranquility will arrive and we will no longer require the help of a cease-fire.

After filming in Sderot, the crew moved on to Kfar Maimon in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. They photographed and interviewed the children there, who were busy taking part in a sports day -- playing volleyball, performing synchronized walking, and dueling with laser pistols.
